NC Natural Treasures

Annalise
Today, my class went to a videoconference called NC Natural Treasures. I was in the eastern box turtle group. I learned that an eastern box turtle has scales on its shell. I also learned that they have orange spots on their shell. Also their shell is connected to their body. I had a great time learning about turtles.

Today my class went to a videoconference called NC Natural Treasures. I was in the cardinal group. I learned that the cardinals nickname is called the red bird. It is our state bird. the female cardinal is tan so it can blend in with her nest and keep her babies safe. I learned a lot about cardinals at the videoconference and it was very fun.


Allison
Our class went to a videoconference about NC Natural Treasures. I was in the honeybee group. I learned that one average bee hive can hold 50,000 bees. I also learned that there are only three types of honeybees, the queen bee, the worker bees, and drones.


Halee
Our class went to a videoconference about NC Natural Treasures. I was in the cardinal group. I learned that the female is lighter than the male because she blends in with the nest. It is the state bird. The male has a red beak. It does not migrate.






Kenneth
Our class went to a videoconference about NC Natural Treasures. I was in the bee group. After a female stings you it will give its life. A hive can hold 20,000 bees. There are 3 different bees. One is the queen bee, another is a drone, and the last is the worker.

Our class went to a videoconference about NC Natural Treasures. I was in the scotch bonnet shell group. We learned that a sea snail lived in a shell. It is the state shell. You can find it in the sea.




Hannah
Today our class had a videoconference about NC Natural Treasures. I was in the scotch bonnet group. I learned that a snail lived in the scotch bonnet shell. I also learned that the scotch bonnet snail lives in very deep water. The scotch bonnet shell is the state shell.


Seth
Today our class had a videoconference about NC Natural Treasures. I was in the box turtle group. I learned that turtles eat almost anything. Turtles hide in their shells. The turtle can blend in with the leaves. It can leave its shell.



Landon
My class went to a videoconference called NC Natural treasures. I was in the honeybee group. I learned that the male honeybee doesn’t sting, but the female stings one time, then it dies.

Aaron
Today our class went to a videoconference. We were learning about NC Natural Treasures. I was in the scotch bonnet group. They got their name because the scotch women had hats like the shell. They eat sand dollars and sea urchins. You can find them in water 50 feet to 200 feet deep. I learned a lot about a scotch bonnet.



Sierra
Today my class went to a videoconference called NC Natural Treasures. I was in the long leaf pine group. We were talking about plants and animals. The lady showed the class a venus fly trap. My group learned that long leaf pine needles could grow up to 1 foot long. A long leaf pine tree could survive a fire. People use its wood to make good strong ships. After we got back to the classroom I felt good.



Julianna
Today my class went to a videoconference called NC Natural Treasures. I was in the eastern box turtle group. I learned that they don’t swim very good. The turtle has a sharp beak. They eat almost anything like insects, worms, fruit, and beetles. I love learning about turtles.




Richard
Our class went to a videoconference about NC Natural Treasures. I was in the honeybee group. I learned the male goes to get the pollen while the female stays home.


Knox
Today my class went to a videoconference called NC Natural Treasures. I was in the long leaf pine group. I learned that it can’t die in fires. It grows very big pine cones. The pine needles grow from eight inches to eighteen inches long. This tree is the state tree. I learned a lot about the long leaf pine.




Bryson
My class went to a videoconference today. My group learned about an eastern box turtle. We got to see a real shell and a real turtle, too. We saw a real snake.


Pearson
Today my class went to a videoconference called NC Natural Treasures. I was in the cardinal group. we learned that the cardinal was the state bird in 1943. The female blends in with the tree so she can protect her babies. The cardinals nick name is the red bird. I’m glad we had that videoconference because I learned a lot.

Zakira
Our class went to a videoconference about NC Natural treasures. I as in the honeybee group. I learned about the queen bee. The queen bee stays in the hive and makes the babies. The females are the only ones that have stingers. They only can sting you one time and then they die.

Today my class went to a videoconference called NC Natural Treasures. I was in the cardinal group. I learned that cardinals do not fly south for the winter. The female cardinal stays in the nest to protect her eggs. I learned a lot.


Christin
Today my class went to a videoconference called NC Natural Treasures. I was in the scotch bonnet group. I learned that the scotch bonnet eats sand dollars and sea urchins. The scotch bonnet is in 50 to 200 feet deep water. The scotch bonnet looks like the hat that the Scottish women wear. I had a very awesome time.



Haley
Today my class went to a videoconference called NC Natural Treasures. I was in the long leaf pine tree group. This is one thing I learned, long leaf pine trees can survive a fire because they are so tall. They are very important to NC because they are used to make timber for ships. Long leaf pine trees have very, very, very big pine cones! I had an awesome time at the conference!



Clayton
Our class went to a videoconference and our group leaned about a long leaf pine tree. Also we learned that the long leaf pine tree can live through fires. It also had people build their ships with the wood. The seeds are on top of the long leaf pine and wehen the seeds grow, they will turn to pine cones.
